Kevin Cleary

Kevin has been a competitive athlete for most of his life. Growing up in the Midwest, he swam, cycled, ran, mountain biked, and skied both cross-country and downhill. In high school he was a four-year varsity swimmer who competed at the Division I state meet every year, and he also played water polo and ran cross country. He went on to swim for Michigan State University as a varsity walk-on.

After college, Kevin stepped away from competitive sports to build a career in sales leadership with leading pharmaceutical and health and wellness companies. His career took his family from the East Coast to the West Coast and many places in between.

In 2005, Kevin set out to get back in shape and lost 100 pounds through diet and exercise. A year later he finished his first indoor triathlon. Since then he has completed more than 86 Olympic-distance triathlons, 13 half Ironman races, and 2 full Ironman races. These days he focuses on road and gravel cycling and still spends plenty of time in the pool.

Kevin has helped coach adult and youth triathlon programs at Athletic Mentors. He is also an active fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Michigan through cycling events.
