Is there a coach or athlete that you look up to as a role model and why?
Yes, I look up to my skating coaches Jen HB (my mom), Jen M, and Sarah. They provide all of their students, including myself, with insightful advice in both skating and life. I think they’ve helped me a lot through everything I’ve ever done, and I aspire to be as skilled and knowledgeable as them someday.

Why are you so passionate about playing sports?
I’m passionate about figure skating for a multitude of reasons: I love the performance, the process, and the personal connections. I love doing something with my life in which I can identify goals that I need to work towards, then see and feel improvement. I’ve skated since I was 3 and looking back at my journey, the friends and accomplishments I’ve made are the most rewarding aspects of my sport. Figure skating just makes me all the more passionate about what I’ll do next.

What strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?
I think I’m good at maintaining a positive outlook, and when I lose it I’m able to gain it back. Skating can be very discouraging and ruthless, especially when competing against friends, and I think a major part of being able to succeed yourself is to be able to support the accomplishments and success of those around you and be happy about it. I consider myself good at that.

Do you have any interests or hobbies outside of sports?
Yes. I played snare drum in marching band for 4 years, I work out, I make videos/films, I like making all sorts of art, and I like hanging out with friends and family.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next five to ten years?
I’m pursuing a career in the film industry so I hope that I can get through film school and maybe make my own business. I also hope to coach skating, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully leave the rink.
